Coverage
Jewelry Insurance in Florida
Many standard homeowners forms cap jewelry and watch theft at $1,500, with every piece sharing that one limit. We schedule each item at its appraised value through A-rated carriers, usually as an addition to your home or condo policy.

What’s Covered
What a Jewelry Schedule Covers
Theft at Full Value
Each scheduled piece is covered for theft at its listed value, separate from the $1,500 theft cap that many standard forms place on all unlisted jewelry and watches combined.
Lost Stones and Rings
Many schedules cover a stone lost from its setting or a ring that slips off and is never found. A standard homeowners policy pays only for listed causes of loss, and simply losing something is not one.
Accidental Damage
Chipped stones, bent prongs, and broken clasps are covered on schedule forms that include accidental damage. The base homeowners policy does not list that kind of loss, so the schedule wording decides what you collect.
Luxury Watches
Each watch is listed with its maker, model, serial number, and appraised value. Without a schedule, several watches share the same $1,500 theft limit as every other piece of jewelry in the house.
Silver and Heirlooms
Theft of silverware, goldware, and pewterware carries its own $2,500 cap on many standard forms, and theft of firearms has a separate $2,500 cap. Heirloom silver and inherited pieces can be scheduled like any ring.
Pairs With Home Coverage
Scheduled jewelry usually attaches to your homeowners or condo policy as an endorsement, with its own premium per $100 of value. One renewal date and one agent cover the house and the jewelry.
Appraised Values
Each listing rests on a recent appraisal or receipt that names the metal, the stone grades, and the retail replacement value. Gold and diamond prices move, so we revisit values on the costliest pieces every few years.
Fire Losses
Unscheduled jewelry destroyed in a covered fire falls under your personal property limit, after the deductible. A scheduled piece is insured at its own listed amount, so it does not compete with furniture and clothing for one limit.

Who It’s For
Who Should Schedule Their Jewelry
Engagement Ring Owners
One ring can exceed the entire $1,500 theft limit on many standard forms. A theft of that ring alone would use up the cap for every other piece.
Watch Collectors
Several watches share one theft limit unless each is listed, so a collection of three or four can be underinsured by most of its value.
Heirloom Owners
An appraisal written 20 or 30 years ago may understate today’s replacement cost. Because a schedule insures the listed value, an old figure caps what you collect.
Recent Buyers
Send the receipt or a jeweler’s appraisal for a new ring or watch, and we add it to the schedule on your home or condo policy.
Our Process
How We Schedule Your Jewelry
Send Photos and Appraisals
Send a photo of each piece with its appraisal or receipt. We also read the special limits section of your current home or condo policy, since many Florida carriers write their own forms with different caps.
We Set a Value Per Piece
Each item gets a description and a scheduled value from the paperwork. Where an appraisal is several years old or missing grades, we tell you before quoting so the value holds up at claim time.
Review the Premium and Add It
You see the premium for each piece, usually priced per $100 of value, and choose what to list. We add the schedule to your policy and send you the updated declarations.
“Absolutely thrilled with the service Anna provided for both our car and homeowners insurance. She went above and beyond for us and our savings was remarkable!”

Common Questions
Questions About Insuring Jewelry
A scheduled policy often does, while a standard homeowners policy usually does not. The contents section of the ISO Homeowners 3 form pays only for named causes of loss, and its theft coverage reaches only property likely to have been stolen, so a stone that falls from its setting is left out. Many jewelry schedules add loss and accidental damage, depending on the carrier, which is why we recommend scheduling any ring worth more than $1,500.
Yes, under your general personal property limit rather than the theft cap. The $1,500 special limit on many standard forms applies only to loss by theft, so jewelry destroyed in a covered fire is paid from the same limit as your furniture and clothing, subject to your deductible. A scheduled piece is insured for its own listed amount, separate from that personal property limit.
Silver, firearms, and cash carry their own caps on many standard forms. The ISO Homeowners 3 form limits theft of silverware, goldware, platinumware, and pewterware to $2,500, theft of firearms to $2,500, and money and coins to $200. Many Florida carriers write their own forms with different limits, so we read the special limits section of your current policy before recommending a schedule.
It should describe the metal, the stones with their weight, cut, color, and clarity grades, and any grading report number. Watches need the maker’s marks or serial number. The appraisal should state the retail replacement value and its date, since a schedule insures each piece for the listed amount. Gold and diamond prices move, so we recommend updating values on the most expensive pieces every few years.
Scheduling lists the ring on your policy with a description and a value from a recent appraisal or receipt, and insures it for that amount. The ISO Homeowners 3 form removes separately described and specifically insured articles from its general contents coverage, so the $1,500 theft cap no longer applies to that ring. A schedule usually carries its own premium per $100 of value.
Store photos, appraisals, and receipts away from the house, in cloud storage or a safe deposit box. Northeast Florida homeowners evacuating for a storm usually leave with only what fits in the car, and a claim for a missing piece moves faster with documentation in hand. Pieces you leave at home stay covered by the schedule there.
